A graduate in Computer Science and a homemaker, Rekha Katti Raveendraraj decided to pursue a Postgraduate degree in Fashion at the age of 43. With a robust traditional background, she had the desire to bring the traditional fabrics of India to mainstream fashion. Hence, the concept of Navyatha had taken root during her Postgraduation. With the determination to contribute to the Indian handloom industry and bring the traditional fabrics of India to the forefront, Rekha established Navatha in September 2021. Khun Fabric caught her eye while exploring the local fabrics of India. Hailing from the remote village of Guledagudda in the Bagalkot district of Karnataka, it is a blend of Cotton and Silk Threads. The Khun handloom industry faced a setback due to COVID. However, with Navyatha's decision to create outfits from Khun Fabric, the craft has experienced a revival, bringing it back into business.
Our mission is to create magic out of the traditional Khun Fabric and make attires which compliment you. Our custom made designs are for both men and women. Elevate your wardrobe and make a distinct statement as you stand out from the crowd.
Introducing our designer, Rekha Raveendraraj Nadgoud, the creative force behind Navyatha. Her remarkable journey began as a science graduate and evolved when she transitioned from being a homemaker to discovering her passion for fashion at the age of 43. In her entrepreneurial odyssey, Rekha achieved significant milestones, with her designs earning a coveted spot at Times Fashion Week following rigorous audition rounds. This opportunity enabled her to connect with renowned fashion designers. Notably, her vision of preserving India's rich heritage of traditional fabrics caught the attention of the acclaimed designer, Prasad Biddappa.
Rekha's inspiring journey has garnered attention far and wide. Her story was prominently showcased on Indy Mandi, an online marketplace dedicated to promoting artisanal Indian-made products. Furthermore, she received a well-deserved honour from the Advisor to Textiles for the Government of Karnataka during the Handloom Exhibition of Karnataka, recognising her significant contribution to the handloom industry. She also received “Senior Woman Entrepreneur Award” from National Foundation for Entrepreneurship Development for contribution towards Fabric and Garment design. Sudha Murthy, a recipient of Padma Bhushan, honoured Rekha Katti Raveendraraj as a distinguished woman achiever chosen by the Jaya Satya Pramod Nidhi (JSPN) panel.
